He started making prints at the Centro Popular de Pintura "Santiago Rebull" in 1930 where he worked as an assistant to Gabriel Fernández Ledesma. Ramírez produced many block prints after this initial venture into the medium. His 1948 series, Vida en mi barriada (Life at My City's Edge), was published by the Taller de Gráfica Popular. He was a founding member of the Taller de Gráfica Popular, as well as of the Liga de Escritores y Artistas Revolucionarios, and participated in all of the workshop's group exhibitions between 1938 and 1948.
